installation problems

When trying to install ASB, the installation only shows this tab . After approximately a minute, it says „Configuration failed. Check connection to internet.“ Connection to internet is apparently working. I'm using Windows 10.

You could try the following,

Clean install of the Secure Browser:
Maybe it's time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Bookmarks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.

Report back if that's solved the problem or not.
Avast has offered a separate tool to totally remove the Secure Browser if the above instructions don't work.

Unfortunately, the situation has not changed. Tried both of the uninstall programs and the situation is still the same. The uninstaller only shows the exact same tab as the installer, which disappears in a few secs. The video isn't particularly helpful either, since it deals with the choices of the installation itself, and not with how to actually run it in the beginning.

You run the un-installer exactly as you would run any program.
When asked to allow it to run in SAFE MODE choose yes and allow it to do exactly that.
Once completed, restart the computer and start with the installation of Avast as instructed.
