AVAST URL Blacklist BUG
« on: September 25, 2020, 11:18:57 PM »
Hello, I recently switched to Avast after AVG developed a massive memory leak. Unfortunately, it seems Avast has developed problems of its own. It now has decided to block connection to a safe site which I use for work. Very disappointed and I had to temporarily disable the web shield to be able to access the site. I think this may have occurred since I had about 20+ tabs open in Google Chrome and I had signed out of Chrome at one point (which I normally do not do). However, even after signing back in as normal, Avast continues to block the safe site unless I manually disable the web shield. It also blocks it on Firefox; however, it does not give the Avast popup notification.

I hope Avast can locate the bug in Version 20.7.2425 (build 20.7.5568.599) that is causing this error. Please see attached image.

Thank you.

Regards,
Adam Janz

I should note that the site was working fine all day and then AVAST suddenly decided to block it. The site is completely safe, so this is definitely a bug. The only thing different about today was this morning I installed the Microsoft .NET framework 4.8 file which was required by another program. I do not know if that could possibly be related, but as mentioned, the site in question worked perfectly fine right up until around 4 PM CST when AVAST decided to randomly block it (and that was many hours after the .NET install).

@Pondus: Yes, I am well aware of the Avast and AVG merger.

@Asyn 3DSky is a safe site, it's used daily by architectural visualization artists. 1 of 79 engines does not constitute a true positive detection. If Avast cannot fix this false positive, I will have to switch to Kaspersky or Bitdefender.

Thanks Asyn. I used that link to report the false positive. I uninstalled Avast and installed AVG, and AVG, since it uses the same threat engine, also gave the same false positive. However, today, Sept. 27, 2020, AVG appears to not be blocking the site (at least, so far). We will see if the problem has been fixed.
