Program Update Concerns
« on: September 28, 2006, 06:05:16 AM »
I just now tried to do a manual program update and I received an error message "Cannot Connect To Server."  Could there be some other software problem causing this?  The only major change in my overall system - other than reconnecting an external DVD burner - was the installation of Internet Explorer Version 7.0.

I have the same problem.  After the last program update, now the program shows unable to connect to server when trying to perform updates.

What operating systems do you use?
Do you use any firewall? Maybe it's preventing the (updated) setup executable to access the Internet?

My OS is Windows XP Home Edition SP2.  Zone Alarm is my firewall, which I installed after reading various postings on these forums.  Kerio had severe flaws.  However, no firewall was ever a problem in the past.

 :) Hi Harlem :

The latest ver ( 6.5 ) of Zone Alarm firewall has caused
headaches for many; you should visit their forums about
WHAT is going on . And did you "disable" the Windows
"firewall" that comes with XP SP2 !?

Hi Spiritsongs

Yes, I did disable Windows Firewall; however, I also updated my Zone Alarm and gave permissions on its program page to Avast and I was able to update.  Thanks to all.
