How to completely stop Avast
« on: September 29, 2020, 04:37:53 PM »
Avast is causing my computer to crash and I have submitted the problem. In the meantime, I need to stop the avast services since they are causing the cpu usage to be too high. I tried using services.msc and could turn off one of them but the other said it wasn't allowed. Would someone please explain how to completely stop avast, short of uninstalling it.

Using the latest version of Avast Premium Security.

I've found a way to disable Avast.

- Boot into safe mode.
- Open a cmd prompt and type in msconfig
- Click the services tab and uncheck all of the ones for Avast and apply.
- Click the Startup tab and uncheck the ones for Avast and apply.
- Close the window and click the restart button.

I hope this helps someone going through this. Support has still not answered my ticket so I've enabled the Windows firewall for now.
