How to Get Password Hash from HackCheck?
« on: October 06, 2020, 07:05:58 PM »
I am trying to find out which of my passwords have been leaked in password breaches, but they are all "encrypted passwords". How can I find the hashes so that I can figure out what passwords were leaked so that I can act accordingly?

Also, sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask this in. It's just that there isn't a HackCheck forum and Avast Passwords is the closest thing to HackCheck that I could find.

Also, by HackCheck, I mean the breach lookup tool that is on the following website:
avast.com/hackcheck

This does not answer my question. In the video, it shows the plaintext version of the password. However, when I opened my email, it said that the leaked password was encrypted, as shown in the following screenshot:

How do I show the password hashes? Or, if HackCheck won't show it, how can I find the data breach so I can search through it myself? I want to decrypt the password myself so I can find out which of my passwords was compromised.

Is that image from the website you were sent too after opening the email or,
is the image taken from the email reply?

It was taken from the email, but I can also upload a screenshot showing the website as well.

UPDATE WHILE WRITING THIS POST: So, I was going to put a screenshot of the website it takes me to, but when I clicked the link in the email, it instead gave me the following error:
https://imgur.com/TkRtVQt

Reloading the page just brings me back to the HackCheck home page where it asks you to enter your email.

I will need to try again later; I cannot provide a screenshot of the website at the moment.

But, from what I remember back when it DID work, the "Show Password" button was not there and in the box was the words "Encrypted Password", just as it was in the email.
Also, FYI, clicking the little i button next to "Encrypted Password" in the email does the same thing as clicking the Show Details button at the bottom of the email.
