AVAST Driver Updater - Can't restore
« on: October 09, 2020, 12:22:23 AM »
Hi,

I've just installed Driver Updater for the very first time, clicked on "Update all" and.... things aren't looking good (screen looks wonky, all stretched out, for starters).

I am now trying to cancel the whole process but, alas, can't figure it out. The FAQ page (https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Driver-Updater-FAQ/#idt_5110) states that I should:

    1. Open Avast Driver Updater and click See Overview.
    2. Click on the panel of the driver you want to restore to a previous version.
    3. Click Driver versions in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
    4. Click Restore next to the driver version you want to restore.
    5. Click Restore to confirm.

Which I attempted to do. But, no "See Overview" anywhere. Same goes for "Restore".
So. Can you provide me with an easy (aka stupid-proof) solution to cancel the whole thing, Avast pros?

A quick response would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

If by Cacel you meant uninstall then simply uninstall the program in programs and features.
If you mean roll back all drivers updated by the app, then either do each roll back manually or,
There was a restore point created before the updates. Roll back and the updates should be history.

No restore point and roll back option, Is there any way we can get the previous driver beside doing the manual way?

Did you look at the backup folder?

I've reported a problem to Avast that apparently, the
function to restore the old driver withing the program does not work.
Actually, the function appears to be missing.

Hello everyone,

let me clarify a few things here:

  • Restore option is available only for drivers which were installed by our product. That means we cannot restore drivers which were installed previously by either the operating system or some other 3rd party software.
  • In case something went wrong you can either try the malfunctioning driver in the list of all drivers and revert it there (in the driver details) or you can navigate into the backup folder where are stored all the previous drivers so you can install them manually if neccesary.
  • Unfortunately the list of all drivers is currently sorted in alphabetical order which is not ideal when you are looking for the currently installed drivers. We know about the problem and we are trying to resolve that. Feel free to contact our support in case you would need a hand with reverting the malfunctioning drivers, also we would appreciate more data about such cases so we can fix them.

With that being said, could you please provide us with the logs package so we can investigate what went wrong in your case and fix that?

You can simply send them by executing our log collector utility from this path C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Driver Updater\tulogcollector.exe and once the logs are collected they will be automatically send to our server.
Once it is done, please let me know which email address you have used there so we can join the logs with your report here.

Thank you.

Go to your device manager and click on the particular driver or drivers that are giving you issues. Right-click -> properties -> driver -> rollback driver. This worked for me!

Thanks.
