Avast Removal tool (avastclear.exe)
« on: October 23, 2020, 01:39:18 PM »
Hello,

My company moved to a new security policy recently.
I'm trying to completely remove Avast Free Antivirus (ver. 20.8.2432) in a Windows 10 Pro PC with your tool (avastclear.exe), so I can install a new endpoint antivirus (Forticlient).
When the procedure ends (boot in safe mode, etc) the other AV program still finds Avast installed and no further installation is done.
Please advice how can I completely remove your product.

Thank you in advance.

Thomas

I was thinking of trying several AVAST products.  I always check up on canceling & uninstalling BEFORE I sign up for "free trials".

I have YET to find out how to cancel a free trial of any AVAST product (all "cancellations" say you must have an "order #" from an email received AFTER you PURCHASE the product.  That alone is giving me pause.  Now I'm REALLY hesitant to try an AVAST product because of the apparent problems of trying to uninstall an AVAST product - with the avastclear.exe apparently not working to actually CLEAR the Avast product from a computer (unless you have a certain version, build, etc. etc. of a certain OS of several OTHER software products).

How DO you cancel a "free trial" if you find that you like a different product more (but of course, have no "purchase order #, sine it was a "free trial"?  Would it be safer for me to just leave AVAST out of the evaluations?  I truly despise "sticky" applications; I should not have to troll the registry myself to remove bits & pieces.

Also, I am having trouble reading the letters in the verification below - my vision is not perfect and the letters are too small with lines through them - it doesn't have to be THAT unreadable to foil a bot reader.

If you don't have an order #, you can use 0000000 (7 Zeros)

See if this helps: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/94

No, none of your suggestions worked.
In registry there are tons of avast records, even I ran your avastclear tool. Don't you find this frustrating?
Does any REAL person have any solution out there? Bots are OK, but I would say I've had enough of this.

I had mention that the new way of using the registry for the settings would adversely effect the removal of Avast when that change was originally made. I was told at that time that an update to the removal tool would be released. I guess that never happened. When you create the new tool, please create a tool that finally removes all of the product, not just some  as has been the case for a long time. Thanks

So the final verdict is that there is no way at this time to completely remove Avast ??? Very professional indeed
