Problem with Samba Shares/Permissions
« on: November 08, 2006, 06:57:44 PM »
I have a network with a samba 3.0 server.
Every time a windows user protected by Avast Anti virus (home edition) tries to access (with windows explorer) a share he doesn't have permissions for, windows explorer freezes, however, if I go to the On access protection control and turn off all the resident protections, explorer unfreezes.

If the user doesn't use the resident protection everything works alright.

I am having a similar problem so I have turned off Samba Protection and enabled block all incoming connections with my network IP address range in the whitelist.
To the experts: Will this be sufficient protection still?
