YouTube Video downloader gone

Is the YouTube video downloader history ? I have the current version of ASB (ver : 86.0.6394.76), and can't find an option, extension, or otherwise to activate the the downloader. Of course, it didn't work right about half the time, but it was nice when it did. I've used MS Edge for the last couple of years and haven't keep up with changes to ASB.

I've read somewhere (and cannot find that article anymore), that several built-in extensions are very unsafe. In short: avast "safe" browser is not safe at all and allowed skilled hackers to install all kinds of problematic software on the computer. No permission needed.

The video downloader was one of the mentioned extensions.

I reinstalled ASB and the video downloader extension now appears, and when activated, a small black rectangular box with arrow icon appears. However,  when selected, as might be expected, the downloader reports 'There are no videos to download on this page' -  tried several Youtube videos with the same result. Personally, I think that when the Avast downloader works, it's the best of the bunch (including paid versions with all the accompanying  mostly useless extra features)  Avast's downloader was simple and easy to use - if only they could get it to work consistently.

I agree ! It is great when it works, very fast and one step. I hope they fix it soon!

we'll be releasing a fix for this Youtube problem very soon so you should get the new version VideoDownloader 2.3.107 not later then tomorrow. Let me know if that works

Reinstall the YouTube video downloader extension from the Chrome Web Store for Avast Secure Browser.
