this 11/2 build 5742

1. still takes 5 minutes to shutdown most times (on rare occasion does immediate shutdown)

2. GUI is "untouchable" - the moment mouse is clicked it deadlocks, also the systray icon, only way to gain access back to PC is to use ctrl-alt-del to start taskmanager (this also means I cannot change any settings unless maybe registry edit)

please give access to last offline build of 20.5 which is the last build that works properly while you sort this out, it is a nightmare of time wasting

Hmm this is strange because I think you're the only experiencing these issues. The shutdown problem has been fixed ages a go.

1. still takes 5 minutes to shutdown most times (on rare occasion does immediate shutdown)
Few questions:
- Can you please confirm it does not happen without Avast installed?
- Please create a dump when system hangs during the shutdown. You can follow the steps here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/forcing-a-system-crash-from-the-keyboard

Thank you.

it most definitely does not happen when Avast is not installed

on very rare occasion I will get a fast shutdown on 20.8/20.9 but most times not

it might matter this is on W7 64bit but your company boasts continued support for W7

I had to roll back to 20.4 which is the last stable version I have access to, still looking for 20.5 offline installer - 20.4 works 100% perfectly, it's just not getting virus definition updates which is of course somewhat dangerous

but worse than the shutdown problem is the fact I cannot access the GUI on 20.8 and 20.9 - I can make it appear on the screen but it becomes "unclickable" (tabbing/enter won't work either, it's like it's out of phase with the desktop)

even right click on the systray icon, it will bring up the mini menu but that menu is unresponsive

you changed something with the GUI layer at some point after 20.5 that broke things

if there is a registry entry I can change that will make it use the old GUI method that would be interesting to try, I am advanced user and know how to manually edit registry (and system is well backed up/imaged)

That in itself is strange, as we still get virus def updates in older versions than that. (e.g. Avast free v18.5 used on XP)

actually I figured out just today if I turn off the "streaming" option it now gets definition updates

also found a copy of 20.5 I think I can trust so bumped up to that and it's working fine with proper shutdowns and GUI access so I guess I have the last version that works until they sort this out

Sorry to say but I think it's an issue on your side. As far as I can recall no one had this problem before and people have never had such big problems.

About the User Interface issue - as we stated before, without logs, we cannot analyze the issue. It is not common, we did not hear about it before. It would be really helpful if you can provide logs as my colleague asked you for previously.

And the shutdown issue - again, generated dump file from you computer should help us to find a cause of the issue.
