Avast Business Antivirus 20.8
« on: November 04, 2020, 02:41:51 PM »
Hi,

Avast Business Antivirus version 20.8 has just been released, November 4, 2020.

Release Summary

This release contains new improvements and bug fixes to our Avast Business Antivirus client.
Avast Business Antivirus 20.8 will be available for new installations straight away. All existing devices with Avast Business Antivirus 20.7 or lower will start the automatic upgrade to 20.8 at a later time.
If you wish to upgrade your devices to 20.8 prior to the automatic upgrade, then you can create a new Task (Update device –Program update task) from your console.
A system reboot will be required to complete the installation. There will be no forced reboot unless you have set this in your device policy settings. Servers will never reboot, regardless of your device policy settings.

Improvements

•     Improved accessibility-Our interface is now better suited for visually impaired users
•     Friendlier CyberCapture -If you stumble upon a file we can’t identify, CyberCapture can send it to our ThreatLabs for a detailed analysis. We’ve updated this entire process to make it easier than ever
•     Better Remote Access Shield -We now support Windows’ Samba protocol.
•     Firewall recognizes VPNs -Firewall now knows when you’re using a VPN and won’t classify this as an unknown network.
•     Password Protection-This new feature automagically secures passwords saved in your browsers.(Business Console 8.9 and unmanaged AV 20.10)

Resolved issues

•     Stomped a pretty nasty UI bug that made AV pop up randomly
•     Edge case fixed where Password Protection didn't recognize supported browsers
•     Text encoding of an exclusion created from detection dialog
•     Shredder can now properly shred read-only files
•     Fixed service crashes that happened when uninstalling the Wi-Fi Inspector component
•     Remnants of configurations are now properly stored in the registry (instead of avast5.ini)
•     Firewall no longer blocks ping (this was an edge case)
•     Fixed the excessive memory usage of process monitor caused by Behavioral Shield hooking
•     Fixed OS boot problems when running smss.exe as virtualized
•     Plugged a memory leak in RegistryChangeWatcher
•     Fixed aswToolsSvc.exe initialization issues upon version update and before OS restart
•     Fixed serviceDLL monitoring and removal
•     Repair action now properly fixes hooklib.dll
•     Remote Access Shield detection window no longer appears if you've disabled its notifications in settings

Is this turning off RDP access? I'm getting reports from external users that they are unable to get on, and RDP is now turned off. Seems to be no easy way of disabling this 'feature' so now im having to uninstall / reinstall and hopefully kill this shield.
