Avast Antivirus has worked well for me until recently.

I download programs from the GiveAwayOfTheDay.com site.  It is common for me to have to disable the four core shields to enable the program install.  But recently that has not worked.  I finally found that I had to enter the Avast Passive mode to enable the installs.  This require restart of Windows and is rather cumbersome to do.

I appreciate the difficulty of providing system protection, but is there a way to make program installs easier to do?

The download for me was not blocked by Avast but by Google.

For me this is enough to find something else.
