How to add an exception to Avast Secureline VPN

Hi, can you help me add an exception to Avast Secureline VPN? I found the option in the Premium Security settings, but VPN seems to be a different source. HBO GO app keeps blocking my access even though my geography settings match what is currently in the VPN. Thank you.
