Avast causes memory error on update
« on: November 21, 2020, 04:54:53 AM »
I have "enjoyed" many times now system warnings of low memory even by just using web browser. Memory is about 80% used. After restarting the system, I notice the memory go back to normal 30%. Avast informs me it is updated. This is frustating, especially when playing computer games.

System:
Windows 8.1 Professional
8 GB of Random Access Memory
CPU;GPU;PSU;MB;SSD-all professional gaming quality

Without knowing what else you were doing at the time the update to Avast happened, it's
almost impossible to guess why this happens.
You can change your settings so that the update doesn't happen while you are busy doing other tings
on your computer.

Last time I was browsing internet, one Youtube video open and one forum-like website open.

Before that one time I was playing Rainbow Six Siege (My setup is over recommended settings) and this happened too and I didn't have any other software open.

Is there some kind of automatique which would stop updates if I am playing? I don't want turn automatic updates off completly as notifications to update bug me.

Even still this is Avast bug as my computer should be able to handle internet surfing and updating virus protection with ease. Memory leak perhaps? Luckily this has not happened when I have been doing more important tasks e.g. university and/or work projects.

There currently is a problem with the uninstaller since it doesn't properly remove
all those entries placed in the registry for the current versions of Avast.

For a reinstall, instructions should work anyway.

Agreed, invoking it could be a problem, let's go for the logs instead...
