Avast Secure Browser opens by it'self???
« on: November 23, 2020, 06:11:39 PM »
I don't know if this is a CC Cleaner or Avast issue.  The last couple of days I've been getting a message from CC Cleaner that my Avast Secure Browser has just closed.  However, I didn't have the browser open in the first place. Avast is up to date and I'm getting the green all secure message.  So what gives?

CCleaner, although part of Avast Software is a stand alone product.
Though I have no idea why CCleaner would give you this message (I haven't used CCleaner in many, many years), I don't know what settings you have in CCleaner that would monitor Running Programs to give this sort of message.  So I would suggest checking the CCleaner settings.  When I was using it, I did uncheck any monitoring/checking of the Avast Program.

The Avast Secure Browser (which I stopped using after testing) is also a stand alone product, though if you have Avast Antivirus installed there is some integration.

The Avast Secure Browser also has settings, 1) you can set it to be your default Browser and 2. to run on startup.  So I don't know if either of those could possibly have this kind of effect/interaction with CCleaner.

lol-I didn't know that CC Cleaner was part of the Avast family nor did I realize that the Browser is a stand alone product though I'm sure that it's paid for along with the AV subscription.

In any event. the browser doesn't open on startup and CC Cleaner notifies you when all browsers close because there is a setting so that it cleans the browser automatically.

Funny thing happened as I was writing this.  Malwarebytes showed a comprise attempt
and a minute later CC Cleaner notified me that the Avast Secure Browser had closed.

MMM.

MMM Indeed, having two security based programs running can cause conflicts.  We have seen this with MBAM before and normally exclusions are required to ensure no conflict.

I used to have MBAM Pro, but I never allowed it to be resident I only used it as on-demand scanning, but even though I had a life-time license, I dropped it when it started to be a resource hog, some years ago.
