4.7.892, Vista RC2, Large Scale Fonts
« on: October 07, 2006, 08:41:58 PM »
Just wanted to feedback to the product group that they should take a look at Avast! using Large Scale Fonts.  With the price of widescreen LCDs dropping I, along with many others, will be using Large Scale Fonts (120 DPI) on Vista so we can actually see the writing at 1920x1200.  The splash screen and some of the skins have some rough edges and element placement issues under this font setting.

Cheers,
Colin

Bumped for posterity... I came along here about this problem, now in 4.7.1001, under Vista Home Basic at 120DPI... still placement issues on the splash screen.

Also, when addressing this, it would be cool if you can check out if it's possible to provide scaled up system tray icons under higher DPI settings, since these are also expanded. All programs I've used don't do this, leaving them pixellated, but the synaptics touchpad icon tries to update its pressure display as if it were still 16px square, which makes me think that larger icons could be possible.
