I can't access my passwords
« on: November 27, 2020, 06:08:21 AM »
There is an exclamation point to the right of the small key that appears to the right of the search bar, I'm using google chrome and when I click on that small key, I get the following message. "Hmm... Something's not right
Avast Passwords requires Avast antivirus to work. Make sure Avast antivirus is running and try again. Don't have it? Download it for free here"
I ran a scan of Avast Antivirus and the scan is clean - no issues to have to fix. How can I get access to my passwords?

I'm afraid if I download Avast again, I will lose all of the passwords that are currently in the app. Can anyone solve this for me?

Hi,

Please make sure that the component has actually been added.

To do so please follow these steps:
1. Open Avast Antivirus
2. Click on Menu >Settings > General > Troubleshooting > ADD/MODIFY COMPONENTS
3. Make sure that Passwords (old) is selected
4. Click on CHANGE
5. Restart Windows

I have the exact same issue. So why couldnt tech support tell me this when I called earlier today? BTW, I found this forum after I called for help. The woman that answered was absolutely clueless.

The support you called was third party phone support not directly part of Avast.
They handle broad questions. I suggest you contact r@vast via PM (Private Message)
with your information.
