IMAP server certificate warning popups.
« on: November 29, 2020, 08:55:41 PM »
Hello,

I have several mailboxes which I check using Microsoft Outlook.

Since a few months now, each time Outlook connects to the mail server,  Avast generates a warning popup window saying "Avast has blocked access to 198.23.53.52 (IMAP) because one of the issuers of the server certificate has expired".

While this doesn't seem to prevent the mail to work properly, these popup windows are very annoying.

I have contacted the mail server support, and they replied they had "no issue with the certificate of the server at the moment at it is working without issues. I am afraid that I cannot be sure why avast does not recognize that. You can contact them or you can set an exception in the antivirus it self."

Does anyone know about this kind of issue and how it can be solved?

I'm running Avast Free Antivirus version 18.8.2356

From that version of Avast, can we assume your operating system s WinXP or Vista?
Which version of MS Outlook email client are you using?

Comment of a user of the service abroad:

Daily calls from clients reporting this error.
Poor hardware and resources with reseller -
Cpanel that doesn't handle standard wordpress website.
I need to migrate all accounts to my previous reseller.

On the other hand this scan at NS.tools seems OK
(nothwithstanding the fact, that no SPF record for that domain
and no DKIM selector were found.

See: https://ns.tools/198.23.53.52

@Basic User.  You may want to have a look at status of Avast Add-in within Outlook.
This refers to Outlook 2010, but probably same in Outlook 2007.

File>Options>Add-ins

At the bottom, "Manage Add-ins"
Select [COM Add-ins], then hit Go.
untick Avast add-in.
See if its removal helps with your immediate problem.

You could try to add that Avast add-in again, to see if the problem remains or if that re-insertion fixes it.
