Is Avast and AVG really from the same company ?
« on: December 05, 2020, 09:06:03 PM »
Hello, there - Have a nice Saturday ...
*
I am only a bit curious ....
*
Because I have red in a Danish computer magazine. Last year. That :
"Avast and AVG is really the same company" - (Well Two different products, of cause) But is it ?
*
Well. I know, that both  Anti-Virus products have Prague as home town. In The Czech Republic.

*
It is both funny and nice, that Prague have this status.
*
By the way - Prague is a beautiful town. I have been there two time. Long time ago.
*
A long time ago I tried AGV. But I prefer Avast.
*
But it is of cause individual . And nice, that there are free choices . Yes ?

There are times when I wondered just who bought out whom, seems like AVG got a better deal when Avast Software bought them out.

There was however meant to be a period of time and then the two would properly merge into one, not 4 years later and still two different UIs (by all accounts the AVG one is cleaner/better) and some different functionality.

Hi jorn.rudolph :)

I like your avatar btw.

When Avast acquired AVG, the common sence in both companies was it was unavoidable that they would join eachother at some time.
Also because they were both setteled in the Czech Republic, Avast in Prague and AVG in Brno.

Avast was strong with their Cloud based detections and - updates.
And AVG with their ( partialy ) Cloud based behaviour analysis.
Also AVG had started to develop secure routers for home networks.

So it was an obvious match imo.
