UK watchdog takes Norton to court over auto-renewing contracts
https://www.itpro.co.uk/business/business-operations/359000/uk-competition-watchdog-takes-norton-to-court

That should be a wake up call to all Internet Security Providers/Services on how Cancellation and Auto-Renewal 0ptions are handled for their consumers.

I don't know why they wouldn't comply with the request, but shouldn't all companies provide the means to cancel.

During the case, the CMA is investigating a number of aspects including whether Norton provides customers with “adequate ways” to cancel the automatic renewal or if it uses unfair contract terms to increase prices paid by customers when contracts automatically renew.

Since many give a good discount (the hook) renewal is often 100%, a long time ago paid users used to get a loyalty discount for renewal but that seems to have fallen by the wayside.  Personally I would never take out an auto payment renewal contract for this very reason as you are almost certainly going to get a renewal bonus offer close to the time ;)

I feel Asyn's reply #4 should have been a separate thread. The importance of this on the wider AV industry, is likely to be lost under the "NortonLifeLock acquires Avira" subject line.

Interesting inclusion for a Security Software.
Would make it more secure for participants/miners
