Avast Home edition is windows 2000
« on: October 29, 2006, 10:55:20 AM »
For some reason it runs very slow and the interface looks all wrong.  You do not see the control panel like you do in windows XP.

Graphically the control Gui looks different like it not completly loaded when you run avast.

Anyhow is avast supported in windows 2000?

It is supported... can you post a screenshot of the problem?

Do you have any other antivirus installed in this computer? And in the past, did you have?
Any other security program that could interfere with avast?

If you run C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimp2.exe, what do you get?

Something is making me think that the skin features were not correctly installed in your system... I cannot guess why.
If you run ashLogV.exe, can you see any error info that could help us to help you?

Not sure but I added a user to windows XP and made another shortcut from the simple.exe version and now the interface looks like the standard one.

THe simple interface on the Administration login looked different.  Long window nothing  like this simple intetface now.

I iwill deal with this for now since the user I added to windowes XP now has the normal interface but simple mode.

Thanks

This particular skin ("low res") is used when the system is running with a limited number of colors (16 or 256 colors). Can it be the case for the administrator account?

Well I packed up the Laptop for now.  I didn't realize there is simple interface 1 and 2 and both of those work fine its the standard interface that had the problem.

One of the simple interfaces looks just like the standard interface so I don't think its a resolution or bit depth issue.

it must be some corrupt skin or something.

Avast is working fine though.

So, why don't you try to download one of the several skins available and choose one that you like and works  ;)
