Problems running avast virus scan again
« on: October 27, 2006, 05:21:40 PM »
I downloaded your avast for home program last night.  During the virus scan it found that I had the Trojan virus, internet hijacker, and several files infected with adware.  It said that it deleted these infected files last night.  However, when I opened internet explorer, I am still receiving that same internet security warning (see below).  In addition, I tried to run the virus scan again, it won't run.    PLEASE ADVISE ME AS TO WHAT TO DO!!!!

Although there isn't enough information to say categorically what it is. None of the information displayed is difficult to obtain and is just embellishment to make it look like it knows more than you think.

This warning would appear to be from a rogue anti-spyware program trying to entice you to visit a site for either an on-line scan or to purchase protection. A search for FunWebProducts returns many hits http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=FunWebProducts this is just one of them, http://www.castlecops.com/atxlist-869.html.

A google search for SpamBlockerUtility also returns many hits, this is just one, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/uninstall/1304/SpamBlockerUtility-Email-Toolbar.html

If you haven't already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode.

Do you have a firewall, if so what is it ?
