Hi, I am not a computer wiz or or much of a tech guy. I'm just your average computer user with knowledge of how to use my computer for photo editing, streaming movies, email, paying bills and other basic activities. I've been getting this recurring warning from AVAST that they have blocked some type of malicious file or virus. and moved it to quarantine. This happens multiple times a day when I'm on my computer. I don't actually have to be doing anything. it could just be that my computer is on and the desktop is showing. I'm usually not on any particular website. And there is no rhyme nor reason, nor regular time span between the different alerts. I could get two in a ten minute period and then not another one for 40 minutes. All of a sudden it goes Bing! Bing! Bing! Bing! Bing! and alerts me to the file. And it's always the same file: Threat Secured. We've moved 8030 (2020_12_12 02_09_01 UTC).url to your Virus Chest because it was infected with INI:Shortcut-inf[Trj] . The thing is, it just keeps coming back, over and over. Usually the same file with a more recent date. But it's basically the same file. On the file path it says it's either in or going to, or coming from my H drive, which is an external back up hard drive. But when I first started getting this warning (but with a slightly different file name), the File Path was my C drive. I'm getting ready to change over my older desktop to a newer desktop next week, and I don't want any infected file to be transferred. What is this file? How can I get rid of it?? Can anyone help??

Wait for a qualified remover here and come up with logs as asked for here:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=194892.0

Could well be that avast flags some apps that were pre-installed on your computer.
Are you on lenovo by the way?

Well as I said wait for a qualified remover here to help you with the problem,

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Can you please check if you maybe have some url shortcut in the depository that is written in the file path on the screenshot (H:\FileHistory\...)? If yes, try to remove it permanently. Seems like the detection keeps coming up because of the shosrtcut that is still there.

You still need to post the logs originally requested by Polonus.

Edit: Sorry Marie. I would suggest you check your private messages...

I have exactly the same problem. I would be grateful if someone could post the solution, otherwise I will just have to uninstall Avast and use something else.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Here are some screen shots of what is coming up, including a shot of the quarantine.
I have tried deleting everything in the quarantine but it keeps coming back. I have also sent the files to avast but have not had a reply.

Thanks for the reply.
Before I could do anything Avast has suddenly stopped picking up these files and putting them in quarantine.
Something must have happened, but what? Crazy!!
By the way the Avast verification is rubbish, can't read at least half the letters and the listening option is not very good when you have finally worked out how to use it.
Hopefully they will have changed if I have any more problems.

These are an anti-spam measure (though spammers don't seem to have a problem), you have crossed that hurdle now it is only for the first three posts.

Maybe it was a false posive that has been corrected

That is highly likely, given he did sent of a possible FP report.

I have also sent the files to avast but have not had a reply.

Though he should get a response, but that could be a day or two and action may well have been taken if it were an FP prior to any response.
