Strange, maybe it's different in your country.
Here, with DSL, your phone is hooked into one line of the splitter and the other line goes to your Modem.
The Modem is then plugged into your computer. The computer never dials a #.

For me the same... I never had a problem with a dial-up connection being started  ::)

here bob....the above link will show it better....and that is the way mine is-so i can have my alienware laptop wireless(no cable) so i can take it out on the patio or in the house somewhere if i need too and the download speed is @7500 kbps and the upload speed is @950 kbps ::)

Hi

I reinstalled IE7 and i am no longer getting disconnected Followed (bob3160 ) advice  8)

I am getting Dial up box appearing as long as i click connect i stay connected,  I do not have to redial. (yippee)

I can live with that till Microsoft  finds a fix !hoping anyway!

I stopped that dialup box by setting it to "never dial a connection". I connect before I start IE7, so IE7 connection settings aren't used anyway.

My connection is not always on: I have to use a dial-up connection to connect. The number is '0'. .

Same here, AFAIK:

A "dialup" dsl modem doesn't dial a phone number, its more like a log on/off. You are still always connected to ADSL but not connected to your ISP (and so no internet connection) until you log on (activate) it.
 
The number '0' is only used as the IE connections settings require a number, although its not actually dialled.
