Avast one time scan tool?
« on: January 06, 2021, 07:40:38 AM »
So I'm trying to figure out does Avast offer a free one time scan tool? I'm starting to get worried about a possible compromise on my PC after being virus free since 2017.
If Avast doesn't would my best bet be just install Avast Free? If I have to do this option would it interfere with high RAM usage games that make me now (Current just windows The Windows Defender or whatever they call it these days) hitting 95% ram usage? (Not AV hitting that but game itself  ;D )
OS: Windows 11 64-bit
Webbrowser: Mozilla Firefox
PC Specs: Intel i5-12400f, Nvidia RTX 3050, 16gb ram, 1.5TB SSD(s).

it would be good if avast also had an online scanner though.

Anast used to have a function to create an emergency boot disc or usb drive.
It had the ability to scan your system for infections using that boot disk.
(I can't find that function any more.)

You can still create a "Rescue Disk" via the Avast UI.
Protection>Virus Scans>Rescue Disk

Also Forum section for it here:

Hi,

Rescue Disk is in Protection ▸ Virus Scans ( You seem to be in settings)

Hi,

You might want to do a custom install (which allows you to deselect components you do not need) of Avast Free, and then run a virus scan.

@bob,
I attach screenshot from Avast Free.
I understand you are using Avast Omni, so is the UI different from the Avast AV product?
