If I turn sponsored content off in settings, why am I still seeing sponsored content in the form of direct links on the browser splash page?  Trust me, if for some reason I need to go to Walmart, I know where to find them without your help.

Did you tried to restart the browser after changing the sponsored settings?

I'm having the same problem with sponsored content. I've even uninstalled/reinstalled the browser. And I've been seeing the same ad for three days now. Help!
