"Multiple threats secured" when opening Safari
« on: January 09, 2021, 02:39:26 AM »
Hello, I just dnld the free avast version and although the scan on my macbook doesn't find any malware (I don't have the full version of the program), everytime i open safari I get these messages (see attached screen shots). Should I worry? Is this sth I can delete? If yes, how?
Thank you in advance for your time and your help!

Hello,
when a browser starts, when you open a new tab in it, or when you type into the URL bar a new webpage name, browsers sometimes open pages they have previously opened (as they try to predict what page you will browse to next). I do not see your screen shot, but if the infection that is being reported repeatedly is triggered by Web Shield, it may be worth it to clear browsing history in your browser (eg. https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/clear-your-browsing-history-sfri47acf5d6/mac); this usually helps.
Kind regards,

Thank you for taking the time to reply!
Actually, after doing some searching on Google, because I kept seeing notices from Avast that it has found crossrider when I opened Safari, I followed these instructions (https://www.pcrisk.com/removal-guides/13357-macos-bundlore-virus-mac)
and discovered an installed extension gophoto.it on safari, that I got rid of and since then, Avast stopped notifying me of any threats.
