Unable to activate Core Shield

I just set up my new Macbook Air M1 and can't figure out how to activate the Core Shield.  The message that I keep seeing, one which pops up on my screen every minute or so is "Your Mac is not fully protected.  Please allow Avast Premium extensions to protect your entire Mac.  Very frustrating!  But I can't figure out how to complete the configuration.  Any help with this is welcome!  Thank you!
