Fan running constantly since installing Avast Premium on new computer

The fan runs as soon as I do anything, like going on line.  Also, Avast popups are interfering constantly, sometimes, shutting down the game I'm playing.

How do I tell Avast to stay in the background and stop interfering with me?

Menu, Settings, Personal Privacy
Make sure these are unchecked to stop popups.
