Turning Off Adds in Payed Version
« on: January 26, 2021, 12:34:50 AM »
I have used the payed version for years and I constantly get bugged with adds. I am willing to re-purchase Avast if I can turn them off. How do I do that in the payed version?

You can disable the ads in the paid versions: Avast GUI -> Settings -> Personal Privacy
W8.1 [x64] - Avast Free AV 23.3.8047.BC [UI.757] - Firefox ESR 102.9 [NS/uBO/PB] - Thunderbird 102.9.1
Avast-Tools: Secure Browser 109.0 - Cleanup 23.1 - SecureLine 5.18 - DriverUpdater 23.1 - CCleaner 6.01

Maybe I am saying too much now ...

But as Asyn mentions above, it is the Avast GUI that is showing the ads.
So what will happen Free or Paid if you block the Avast GUI in your Firewall ?

Well in the paid version there should be no need for that at all.  What there is a need for is Avast to disable these by default, all they appear to do is annoy paid users.

Since the avastUI.exe manages more than just the User Interface, it could have unforeseen consequences.  Some time ago they also had a hand in the VPS and Program updates.  Of course you could try the experiment for yourself and see what those unforeseen consequences might be :)

The only consequence that I know, is that you can not log in to your Avast Account from the GUI anymore.
