last update -

in 21.1.2449 (compilation 21.1.5968.636) problem is solved :)

Now everything works fine

A new update has been released after the version 21.1.2449?

No. It is only a micro-update via defs. Note it is still showing as 21.1.2449, only the compilation number has incremented.

So these micro updates are downloaded and installed with definitions? Excuse me but I'm still not familiar with Avast's update system and its versions. I'm new to using it and slowly I'm getting to know it.
So there is a major update and then there are the micro updates that are downloaded and installed with the definition update?
Is streaming instead the connection to the cloud?
Thank you. :)
Thank you and good day!

Hey, sry if this isnt the right place to ask, but I really need some advice..

Avast keeps telling me when I log into a game called Old School Runescape, that it has secured me against a threat infected with a 'Botnet:Blacklist' from the connection 'tcp://81.31.201.136:43594'
It happened suddenly an have never gotten this warning before in the 4 years I have played that game.

I didn't have a VPN at the moment it happened, but i have the avast secureline VPN now.
I have tried to restore pc to factory setting (if I had a virus on my pc) and it sadly didnt solve the problem.
Also scanned the entire PC, both ssd's i have and the folder the game is located in.

Any ideas what to do?
Are my pc infected or is it a false warning?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English  :-X

Hi! I just realized that spam protection is no longer present on avast premium. Why? it is not even installable anymore. Until a few months ago he was present.

Hi,
my Avast Free Antivirus (German ed., os: W7 Pro) had been updated at least twice since the Feb. 12 update (build 21.1.5968.561), most recently on Feb. 18 (build 21.1.5968.630).
I assume that these were the "micro-updates" which rocksteady mentioned (#44)?

By these updates, the vast majority of the files in
     C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast
had not been changed, they are as of Feb. 12.

There are four new files (no predecessor versions available), dating from Feb. 18:
    aswAv.dll.161367121258202
    aswAv.dll.sum.161367121258202
    TuneupSmartScan.dll.161367121258202
    TuneupSmartScan.dll.sum.161367121258202

Two files probably have been updated (predecessor versions are available):
    aswCmnBs.dll, as of Feb. 16
    AvastNM.json, as of Feb. 13
Probably new:
aswCmnBs.dll.sum, as of Feb. 16 (without predecessor version).

That's all. I am somewhat concerned and would like to know whether this is what your updates look like.

Thank you!

Thank you for asking.

Currently there is no major problem but I don't want to get one.

I felt alarmed when there were updates shortly after the Feb.-12-update. I remember for sure that there had been two updates, but maybe there had been even three.

Then took a closer look at the Avast folder and wondered whether this is what an update has to look like, the majority of files being unchanged, and some new files added.

I wanted to clarify this before opening Avast again but it's impossible
- to change the update setting from "Ask when ... available" to "Manual update" and
- to deactivate Avast in the autostart.

(I hope that I express myself right, I'm not native English speaking.)

Time to remember that the glass should always be half full not empty.
It's also impossible to fix something that's not broken.
Have a nice day and enjoy no problems.

I beg your pardon, but I think you didn't understand me right. I did not ask you to fix a problem. I asked you to give me an information.
I had told you which files are in my Avast folder as the result of the two (or more) updates since Feb. 12. Finallly I wrote that I "would like to know whether this is what your updates look like."
In other words, my question is: is it plausible that these updates did "only"
- generate the five new files and changed two other files which I had listed AND
- did not touch all the other Avast files.

for me, micro-updates were followed by the "what's new with 21.1" screen after rebooting my computer.
It seemed to me that avast had solved this problem few versions ago and that the screen should only appear after a main update and not after a simple micro update like now ?
I may be mistaken to have read this few monthes ago  ???

Micro updates (possibly a bug fix) can be delivered as a part of the Virus definitions and "engines" these generally wouldn't get any program update notification, as it isn't specifically a program update in the true sense.

If it is your intention to disable avast at startup (my bold text in the quote), you are going to have bigger issues than small micro updates. Avast is designed as a resident on access scanner and crippling it leaves you at risk.  Doing that would mean you would get zero update notifications as it wouldn't be running.

You could however switch Avast to Passive mode, but as mentioned you would be at risk and you wouldn't be getting any updates micro, virus definitions or otherwise.  You would in essence require another resident scanner installed or you would have no protection.

Personally I don't pre-empt problems, rather I only react-respond to problems, life is too short to turn over every leaf to see if there is something untoward under it.

I have only ever seen these "Whats New popups" directly after a Program Update, after which a system restart is required to apply the changes. I have  not had this after any micro-update.  However on my win10 laptop I rarely restart it but just put in into hibernation (close the lid).

As usual, after an update. the bank mode is no longer working.
How can it be possible? Every single time.
