"Memory is Infected" ???
« on: November 17, 2006, 04:04:37 PM »
I'm not really sure what to do. Every time I try to start avast! up it always sais "Memory Is Infected" and then that gray error report box comes up. I even tried uninstalling it then installing it again, but it still does the same thing. Can anyone help?

What Operating System are you using ? is it up to date ?
What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number, e.g. 0630-2 (see about avast!) ?

What details are contained on the avast alert (file name, virus name, etc.) ?

What option did you choose as the action to take ?
It should have given the option to do a boot-time scan I believe ?

It could be a trojan that injects code into files that are being loaded into memory. Until that happens the actual trojan remains undetected.
If you haven't already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode.

Are you using Windows Defender?

I think that you have a Troyan, and yesterday i have looking for good
programss whit a list of all the Troyans on this moment.
By Nod32 i see  Agent Troyan cleaner. www.nod32.com
But myself prefer Webroot Spysweeper, but it cost 29 euro.
But Avast have olso catch Toyan horses in me computer.
If you scan with the on acces scanning method.
And Yes Ewido Spyware is olso very good, and free www.ewido.net
But try to scan in the safemode F8 .By startingup a few times push
on F8.and maybe the same time on Esc. (works on this PC)
I know its not easy for a outstander you to say what to do ,but we all
will try to help you, and try it in the Safemode!! Becourse its a must, then have
your scanner the free hand.
