For a long time this has been an annoying problem and no amount of excluding seems to stop Avast from using an insane amount of CPU usage while downloading from Steam.
I use a 5950X and Avast while downloading from Steam is using a very large amount of it, just ridiculous. Avast alone is using almost 47% of a 16c/32t CPU just scanning steam!
Tried a few different brands of antivirus and Avast (using Avast premium 21.1.2449) is the only one that does this. Surely you can find a better way of scanning steam out of the box considering it's one of the few places you will not likely get a virus from in the first place as I have never seen one from there in my 17yrs of using Steam.
