Nvidia network connection and internet disrupted
« on: November 24, 2006, 10:14:05 AM »
Hello,
I tried avast yesterday after using avg. When rebooting it had the message aavm error rpc and pointed to a trojan which was my firewall (look and stop) and stopped my connection to the internet (cable not connected since I have broadband).
I uninstalled avg and told avast to skip the file in which the firewall is located ; then rebooted.
Avast started working properly , however there was no way I could reconnect to the internet ; the nvidia network controller was disconnected as well as the cable. I tried to reinstall the driver without success. >:( >:(
I have a windows xp , a gigabyte board with amd 64.
Any hints?
Thank you.

Did you uninstall AVG or just disable it? Disable was never enough  :P
AAVM (RPC) errors are related to two active antivirus in the same computer.

however there was no way I could reconnect to the internet
Which firewall do you use?

Lost Internet Connection - To recover you internet connection, try downloading and running WinsockXPfix: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

If you have, XP SP2, try Windows Start button, Run - type 'netsh winsock reset' without the quotes - this may be enough to fix the issue.
