Yep, thanks is enough. Believe me, there are plenty of times when we spend time giving advice and people never even say if it was useful.

After looking thro all of our notes, I noticed in the very first request for your help, I stated where Avast was detecting the virus from, and noted that I had numerous Popups..

Yes, I'd read that. Unfortunately, randomly named files in temp directories does not really tell us anything. I was thinking that maybe you had detections in System Restore, but then when you told us about the WinAntiVirus (which I think was new information at that point) I suspected Vundo, which can hide itself from HijackThis!

Thank you for persevering with our advice and I hope you stay malware free. The following page may help you avoid reinfection. I especially recommend SpywareBlaster and an alternative browser like Firefox or Opera.

I scanned with Avast, it picked up a virus ....   Win32:Trojano-1165  ..  its stored in the temp files.

Did you ever run a scan with BlackLight? As you've had one rootkit infection, I'd recommend a scan with this rootkit detector and remover just to check there are no more lurking.

To be honest, disabling a few startup entries is going to be a tiny speed improvement: have a look at the links I posted and maybe disable the processes and see if there's any noticeable speed improvement but we are leaving antimalware town and entering geeksville here.
