A question about spywareblaster

Guys i have a question about spyware blaster..my protection solution is:Avast home,comodo firewall,spywareblaster and spybot s&d for on demand scanning..i'm running Windows xp sp2 fully updated and i use firefox for browsing the internet..Spywareblaster is like an antispyware real time protection?i mean does it protect me from spywares???if yes how effective is it?i use spywareblaster coz it doesn't hog my resources..do u recommend me a better antispyware solution that it won't slow down my pc???(Pentium 4  2,4GHz and 1024mb RAM) thnx in advance

SpywareBlaster will block ActiveX spyware in IE using 'killbits': unique identifiers which tell Windows not to allow an ActiveX control (=program) to run.

It also adds bad sites to IE's secure zone so they are very restricted in what they can do, and you are restricted from downloading from those sites.

SpywareBlaster can't protect you from downloading spyware from other sites or with another browser. (You can get warnings of bad sites in Firefox with McAfee's Site Advisor.) An anti-spyware program with real time scanning can block the installation of spyware programs should you download one from the internet via a website or P2P program etc.

This program does not slow up your computer whatsoever. It just blocks malicious sites so that your computer cannot make access to them, in rather a similar way like a hosts file. It has other functions where you can make a snap shot of your computer to go back to, etc.
For it to function properly as an additional protection for an IE or Firefox browser, it should be installed on an non-compromised system. So upon installation the comp should be malware free.
The trio Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, and SpywareBlaster is a classical way of keeping your computer free of spyware, adware, tracking cookies etc. Some install additionally some anti-trojan programs like A-squared, or Ewido-micro (both free).

In my opinion, it should be part of the layered protection package for Windows.

thnx guys..u've rly heped me with ur information..so what do u suggest me to do?keep spywareblaster and scan weekly with spybot or use another antispyware like spyware terminator to protect my pc from spywares in real time?

ok i installed mcafee site advisor and i have some questions here too..is spywareblaster works well with mcafee site advisor or i better unistall it(unistall spywareblaster)?and mcafee site advisor uses lots of system resources?(i think not but i'm just asking)

Yes, keep Spywareblaster, and no, I'm not aware of any conflicts with Spywareblaster and any other security program.

As has been said by OrangeCrate spywareblaster is a 'passive' security tool, so it should have no problem with any program.
