The title says it all.  Windows 10 updated.  I did a repair on Avast which seemed to work.  But it went back to silent mode with the shields turned off.  Anyone have any thoughts?  I ran Avast--no malware.  I ran Malwarebytes.  Came up clean.  This is very strange.

Avast free (which I have been using more than 10 years).
It's the latest version.  When a new build comes out I always update.
Windows 10 Home, 64 bit.  Build 19041.  All updates installed.
MalwareBytes free version installed.
This is a Dell computer.  When I got it, the first thing I did was uninstall the AV that came with it and install Avast.

I shut it down every night and reboot every morning.  This morning when it booted, the behavior shield and ransomware shield was again turned off.  Avast lets me turn them back on.  It's just weird that randomly these shield turn off (yesterday they turned off 3 times).

1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

PS: Regarding Avast & Malwarebytes, see: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/200324-exclusions-for-avast-users/

Thank you.  I figured I would need to uninstall and reinstall Avast.  I had forgotten about the uninstall utility.  I've successfully reinstalled Avast.  Hope I won't need to post again.

It happened again.  Went to silent mode, and both behavior and ransomware shields turned off.  I can turn the shields both back on, but Avast stays in silent mode.  This is really puzzling.  Any other thoughts?

I'm not aware of a general issue, probably something on your end. You could try uninstalling Malwarebytes.

This just happened to me as well. This morning I started my computer, everything was fine. I shut it down for 1 hour, came back and Avast was telling me my Behavior Shielf, Ransomware Shield and Password Protection were all turned off. I restarted my computer and Avast said the same thing. I turned the Shields on but why is this happening? This is the first time it has happened to me.

I am using Avast Premium, Version 2.1.1.2449 - build 2.1.1.5968.643
Windows 10 Home 2004 Version 1904
No other AV installed

This is concerning? I am running the Full Virus Scans but don't see anything coming up.

Hi there.

Having the same issue. Just done a clean uninstall and reinstall of Free Avast. I'm too am having the behavior and web shields switch off at random intervals. It's very worrying.

Windows 10 Home
Version 2004
64-bit operatinf system, x64-based processor

I've never installed Malware Bites so that can be ruled out. All virus scans are clean.

Please help. Many thanks in advance.
