Get There are too many identical e-mails in appointed time
« on: November 30, 2006, 04:58:33 AM »
how can I get Avast to stop blocking my mail. i Get Error "There are too many identical e-mails in appointed time".. This happens when I use my Group Mail app that I use to send my web subscription with. I still want the mail scanned and the Email clean by Avast signature on it..... just don't want to have to keep hitting the continue button for 300 or so emails a week

Welcome to the forum keithsplace.

You can adjust the email heuristics by right clicking the a-icon in your system tray and selecting On-Access Protection Control.  Highlight Intenet Mail and click the Customize button.  Click the Heuristics tab, move the slider to Custom, then click the Heuristics - Advanced tab.  Your screen should now look like this

In the Time Period Check section you can  change the number of emails sent in a given time frame that will trigger a warning.

The Absolute Count changes the number of recipients of a single message that will trigger a wanring.

300 emails in a week shouldn't trigger a warning but, with the default settings, 5 emails in 30 seconds or less will cause a warning as will a single email sent to 10 or more recipients.

Great, thanks for the info.... When I said 300 email a week, I ment when I send I will send anywhere from  10 to 100 at a time, one after the other 20 at a time with a rest of 1 min in between.. but usually 40 or 50 at a time and usually about 300 per week.. but your info corrected it.. thanks.. and I am aware that worms some times will use email as a way of replicating and spreading... and I use this trick for stopping rouge apps from using your address book.

As you may know, when/if a worm virus gets into your computer it heads

straight for your email address book, and sends itself to everyone in there,

thus infecting all your friends and associates.

This trick won't keep the virus from getting into your computer, but it will

stop it from using your address book to spread further, and it will alert

you to the fact that the worm has gotten into your system.

Here's what you do:

First, open your address book and click on "new contact," just as you would

do if you were adding a new friend to your list of email addresses. In the

window where you would type your friend's first name, type in " A".

For the screen name or email address, type "AAAAAAA@AAA.AAA"

Now, here's what you've done and why it works:

The "name" " A" will be placed at the top of your address book as entry#1.

This will be where the worm will start in an effort to send itself to all

your friends.  When it tries to send itself to AAAAAAA@AAA.AAA, it will be

undeliverable because of the phony email address you entered. If the first

attempt fails (which it will because of the phony address), the worm goes no

further and your friends will not be infected.

Here's the second great advantage of this method: If an email cannot be

delivered, you will be notified of this in your *In Box* almost immediately.

Hence, if you ever get an email telling you that an email addressed to

AAAAAAA@AAA.AAA <http:///> could not be delivered, you know right away that

you have the worm virus in your system. You can then take steps to get rid

of it!

Comon lets laught at the Virus writters  ;D

P.S : It the only way they can send a message by starting with the first contact, however You should do the same but with "z" as some viruses might start in the end to prevent this.

All these years I've been leaving off the last letter of the domain in my address book (so domain.com becomes domain.co and domain.net becomes domain.ne) thinking most malware isn't written to analyze the address and fill in the blank.  But this makes sending to more than a few addresses somewhat tedious.  Your method is so much easier - thanks.   8)
