Announcement: forced update to v4.7.892
« on: December 08, 2006, 12:16:40 PM »
Just a small announcement: today afternoon (European time),  together with the next VPS update, all avast Home/Pro installations will be forced to the latest program version (a "forced update" will take place).

What this means is that if you still don't have 4.7.892 installed, it will come to you (silently) with the next VPS update and you'll be asked to restart your computer.

The reason is that the new VPS files need the latest version.

Edit: according to our latest stats, this applies to 5.13% of avast users.

Thanks
Vlk

Do those stats also show the OS used as there have been a few post here for win98 users (I think) that have been unable to use the latest version and had to use an old version.

We may see a spate of those posts again, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Yes have a OS drill-down report available as well. Here it is

WinNT4 0.04%
Win95 0.02%
Win98 4.56%
WinME 1.13%
Win2000 3.76%
WinXP89.62%
Win2003Srv 0.68%
WinVista 0.19%

BTW the update is already out... quite a rush on our servers right now... :) :)

Interesting spread of OS data, I might have though there would be more for the older OSes since many other AVs don't support them.

I wonder if it is too much of a co-incidence that the 5.13% that will be effected by the forced update almost matches the percentage for Win9x ans winME ;D

Good job the forced update only affects 5.13% or the servers would be red hot :)
