not allowing manual virus update
« on: December 08, 2006, 01:55:32 PM »
am using home version. i realised my virus base quite old and i decided to update it but manually. avast does not allow manual virus update. thought it might be some system failure so i tried to uninstall and reinstall it but couldnt manage. i found aswClear.exe utility. but the page where i can download the uninstall utility doesnt work.

my question how can i fix this manual virus update problem. thanks in advance for your help.

1. Do you use the current avast version (4.7.892) ?
2. Are you sure that your license hasn't expired ?

Additionally, I'd ask:
- what exactly does it mean that "avast! does not allow..." - what happens?
- what does it mean that the uninstall utility doesn't work?

Can't you download? http://www.avast.com/files/eng/avclear4.exe ?
First uninstall through Control Panel, boot, and then use the tool.

avasy does not allow means that when i click on update virus base program is not responding
Click Ctrl+alt+del and see if avast.setup is running while you have the problem.
If so, you can't start a second update when the first is running (avast.setup is running).
