License Key Problem
« on: December 09, 2006, 01:31:40 AM »
Hi! I'm new with Avast 4.7 Home and i tried to register my License Key...I did it like shown on the video...Everything went fine and i received a message that registration was successful (i have the greek version)...When i tried to open the program by clicking on the icon in System Tray, it asked again for the license key...I pasted it again and i received the same successful message again...Every time i open the program, or every time i try to register the program i receive the same message "all ok", but it asks me all the time for the key... What can i do???

Thank you very much for your help in advance...

PS: My English are awful, i'm really sorry...

You should be logged as Administrator when entering the license key...

Did you use the Trial version period before registering avast?
Is your system time/date correct?
Which is your operational system?

No, it's not that bad... we can understand you pretty well  ;)

Well... this is something I can't guess the solution  ::)
Maybe we can find something if you post your the last parts of the following log files:

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\setup.log

Did you use any other antivirus in the past?

Panda generates false positives but not these problems  :-\

Well I'm trying but I'm not suceeding to find a solution. Maybe:

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation (read http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_uninstall_util.html)
4. Boot
5. Install again

That's strange... the key (or rather, a derived information) should be stored somewhere in HKLM\Software when you enter it. Did you change any access rights that might prevent the user (the one currently logged on) from writing to this registry key?
