Hello,

After I download and I installed  Avast home and I try to start it up I get a long list of skins he can not load. It is in dutch and start with:
Onbekende fout ( unknown error)
Skin is niet volledig (skin is not complete)
Skin beeld  met de naam start_dep is niet geladen
Skin beeld  met de naam start_dis is niet geladen
Skin beeld  met de naam start_hig is niet geladen
etc, etc

Does anybody what that means and how to get this right?

I tried already tot install again.

Marjan

Did you try to download them again, save the file to disk and try to open (install) them?  ::)
Which is your operational system, avast version, firewall... etc.?

If you need any support in Dutch (since your error messages are Dutch) I can help you, would be a good practice for me at the same time ;)

This is very strange...
Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

If you use MSN or Yahoo you can PM me your adress, then I'll help you since it's easier that way.

What happened was that I tried to install Google Earth. That wanted to install Norton so I had to uninstall Avast. I did but after that there was no norton and no Avast. And after installing Avast again this messages appear.

You mean Then I wanted or That wanted... Do you want to install Norton or any other package suggested you to do so?

no, I really meant that Google wanted to install norton. At least, it said so, but that did not happen.

The same question. avast! can't load skin: "unknown error message", "Application cannot load skin. Function usiGetSkin Failed". Also man has next note in log: "ActiveSkin not installed or not registered properly".
He tried to fix it in command prompt:
START -> RUN... -> C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE ACTSKIN4.OCX
but it didn't work. Repairing and reinstalling avast! aren't helpfull, nothing change.
He has OS - Windows XP SP 2, before he have had KAV6.
Thanks.

The fact or the shame?  ;D
The fact, well, I think not... I think Google is not ordering Symantec.
Shame? Well, if the fact is a fact, yes, shame  ;)
