Intense Security Auditing activity
« on: March 22, 2021, 03:08:54 PM »
Since I have been using Avast Secure Browser there are regularly very long periods of intense internally-generated activity on my computer. For example between 00:00 and 13:30 on 22nd March there were 1335 security events, with 314 logons and 290 special logons, all with Source = Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing. The hard drive was constantly activity for hours, extremely loudly. This happens regularly - several times a week.  This is excessive and worrying. Does Avast have anything to do with it? If so, is it possible to turn it off?

Hello, Dave!

Unfortunately, i cannot reproduce it on my machine, so i doubt that it is Avast. But you can try to switch off the auto-updates for Avast Browser (but then you need to update it manually in the Settings of Browser) and check if the issue will remain

Have a nice day!
