Re-Installing Avast
« on: December 22, 2006, 09:45:01 AM »
            Hello and Good Day,
I just formatted my PC and want to install Avast again.  I downloaded the program and somewhere in the process of saving it I deleted some of its driver settings.  So, I thought I d remove the program and re-install.
However, when I go to Control Panel Add/Remove programs the program appears in the list as taking up no disk space.  When I try to remove I get a window saying:
 RUNDLL
 X Error loading \SOFTAWAR-2|SETUP\setiface.dll
The specified module could not be found.

So, I know that most of the drivers I downloaded are not there (I deleted them ,maybe I shouldn t have) is there a way to remove the program completely or is it already removed and if so why does it appear on the Add/Remove programs on the list???

Additionally, I d like to ask if anyone could recommend  a good Spyware/Adaware blocking and removing program to complement Avast.

Thanx for your time,
Best Wishes for the holidays,
                                              jmmm47

Hi, avast! has a repair option built into it I believe. This is an option that is  in the program that you can try instead of clicking uninstall. Hope this helps.

         Thanx for your reply,
The problem is that the program is not there.  The only place where it appears is in the Add/Remove section of the control panel.  And then it can not remove it because it can t find it , because its not there ( I deleted the drivers) but it still appears in the Add/Remove Programs.
How can I be sure that I removed it completelly?

                                                               Thanx

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
