You'll find Developer Tools in Extensions.
According to your Diagnostics, Avast Ad Bloc is running.

I can see it's running, I've looked. I've turned it off and back on. I"ve restarted laptop. I've done all the other tips in this thread. Ads are fully coming through on YouTube and I've annoyed! What other diagnostic can I send to fix it?

So your complaint is about it's effectiveness which is different from it not being installed.
My answer to that was the following, https://youtu.be/2DFF2q_ISEo

Re: Still nothing being blocked
« Reply #47 on: May 08, 2021, 09:14:35 PM »
I don't recall saying it wasn't installed. I came to this thread from searching fix adblocker. I see that everyone here is complaining that their INSTALLED and running adblocker is NOT BLOCKING ads/popups. There were a few that gave the below diagnostic requested by an admin. I just repeated those instructions to send my diagnostic.
So, if I'm in wrong thread for my problem, let me know. I'm looking for Non-blocking/Installed/and as far as we all can tell, running, current AdBlocker assistance. NOTHING is being block after my Windows 10 updated itself on May 6th. If there is anything else I can send, please instruct me to the right thread or let me know steps to get diagnostic sent.

I've read everyone's posts and I'm sending my issue to see if I can get help. Version is current, strict is enabled. I had a Windows update pushed to laptop May 6th. Since then AdBlock is not blocking anything anywhere. I don't understand what I'm seeing if I do the developer tools (which is not in the more tools section btw), but in Avast dashboard(?) AdBlock is on and set to strict. I had 3 sites that were in the allowed list before Windows update, now they're gone from AdBlock list. HUH? Why does Microsoft mess everything up!?

Where and how to reboot Avast? How much of a pain is that? What with all the things in my Avast package and "keys" you have to confirm to get it reinstalled?

I did a restart  and now it seems to be working. Fingers crossed.
When all else fails, REBOOT. :)

The user was talking about rebooting their system. Nothing else.

How do you 'screenshot'? Then find it? Then post it?

Hi. I am sorry for the problems caused by this bug. We are still investigating the issue. In the meantime, please do try the following steps to help us find the issue.

Go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/storage-area-explorer/ocfjjjjhkpapocigimmppepjgfdecjkb?hl=en
Install this extension
go to secure://extensions/
Enable developer mode by selecting the slider in upper right corner
Click the "background.html" button in the adblock panel
After you expand the window, you can press the "Storage explorer" button
Wait a few minutes for the data to load
Send us screenshots of this page.

I hope that with your help, we will find a solution soon.

Hello guys,

Please make sure you have the latest Adblock version: 2.5.127
- check extensions settings (dev mode)

1) Please post a list of sites where you can still see ads.
2) Go to Adblock settings and see if "strict" mode helps to resolve the issue

Thanks

You have a green Adblock icon? Mine vanished a few months ago, just about the time Adblock stopped working. Adblock still doesn't work (and no green icon) and I have the newest Version 90.1.9508.213 (Official Build) (64-bit) of Avast Secure Browser.

YES, Adblock's turned on. YES, I've played with all the settings levels trying to find one that works. NO, none of the levels make any difference in blocking ads.

Stuff's piling up for me, Avast people: No Video Downloader (YES, it's turned on); no Adblock or even an icon for it (YES, it's turned on); no Translate function (don't know where to turn it on); messed-up, constantly changing icons of essential sites on landing screen with 1 slot I can't use. Starting to wonder why I pay for Avast Premium, seems I could get all this aggravation for free. LOL

Just to be clear, you don't need the paid version of Avast to use the Browser.
You could actually use the browser with restrictions without using Avast.

bob3160, You look like two very nice people, but your replies...?
So, are you suggesting I stop paying for Avast Premium because I can enjoy the bugfest Avast Secure Browser is for free?

My reply, in the same vein as yours: FIX AVAST SECURE BROWSER for ALL users, paid and free. How 'bout that?

I simply clarified the fact that Avast AV isn't a requirement for the browser.
Totally agree with you on fixing the bugs. I don't like them any more than you do.
I probably do more complaints about the bugs than you do but my complaints are quite often
directly to the developers. Some of the bugs have been unpatched for a lot longer than they should have been.

I don't believe bob was saying that at all (as he confirmed), just that the Avast Secure Browser is a stand alone program in its own right.

It is your choice to purchase Avast Premium and the additional protection/functions that it has or you could use Avast Free if it meets your needs (it does for me).  If you do decide to install the Avast Secure Browser and also have Avast antivirus then there is a greater integration between the two programs.

So they are two separate decisions.

Yes wouldn't it be great if it worked flawlessly, but don't lose sight of the fact the ads being blocked are going to impact revenue streams of those sites/services.  Now in the case of blocking Youtu.be ads, I'm sure they would be doing their best to prevent ads being blocked, so it can be a bit of an arms race.

I don't use the Avast Secure Browser (outside of some testing I did) as I much prefer my default browser Firefox (or non Chrome or Chromium based browsers) and I don't see that many ads with uBlock Origin and uMatrix add-ons.
