I would like to say that I am new to Avast, and my first experience with it was installing it on my Vista RTM x64 system.  I have the above mentioned problem.  I can say that I am very impressed with the support offered.  I came to the forum figuring I would find nothing about my problems and here I find that it's being worked on and should have a fix soon.  Very refreshing.

I can't figure out what is going on, so will someone tell me in plain terms if the update has been made, and how one should go about obtaining it. Do I update my program with the program update? Do I reinstal it all from scratch after downloading an instalation file from avast's homepage, or what?

I have Win XP Home w/SP2, so whatever Vista problems or 62 bit problems that are going on, probably do not apply to me, I am just concerned about the password thing primarily, and my system working properlyof course. I do not have the ability to devote the needed time to wade through the forum to piece together answers, so if someone could please give the low-down on Avast Pro here, I would be so grateful.

Thanks...

The current version is 4.7.936 as I type this, but there is talk of another program update in the near future.

If you were trying the beta version you will need to invoke a manual program update to get back in the regular update loop.

If you weren't using the beta version, or if you already invoked a manual update, then future updates will occur as they always have for you (manual or automatic depending on your update settings).

Re installation should not be necessary.

@Tech:

The 4.7.938 is not listed on the main page www.avast.com with changelog...

The webpage might get updated slightly later than the real files (and I'm not 100% sure if the updated full installers, for example, are already online).
But yes, it should be released about now.

Avast 4.7.938 still does not work with Vista x64.  Please see my other post here.

Please forgive my double post, but with two threads going on about this, I think it belongs in both of them.

Hello,

I have Windows ME, I think I am having the same problem as everyone else.

When I try to update the virus definitions, the data seems extremely slow coming off the avast! server, then the program tries to download a 4MB file called "av_pro_core-35c.vpu" at a rate of about 49 bytes per minute (I have an 8Mb/s line). This has been happening since 12th January.

I did manage to manually update the virus definitions by downloading the .exe package from this page:

http://www.avast.com/eng/update_avast_4_vps.html

Still having the problem with automatic updates, though.

Thanks,

David

The home page indicates now 4.7.938. So I think you just can download it from the download programs page. I just checked it for the Dutch one and it has the digital signature of today.
