"Standard Scan. Only the possibly dangerous files are scanned, according to their content. The file extension is ignored. Again, only the viruses corresponding to the particular file type are searched for.
Thorough Scan. All files are tested, against all viruses. "

I'll let others give opinions on what is the best type of scan.

Speedy, that's what the blue help popup that appares every time you start avast (unless you disabled) is trying to explain... ;)

Vlk,

If I want to scan my hard drive from the Home version, and I have always do a standard scan.

The point is if I want to increased the scan for a better virus checkup is thorough, or it doesn't make any different from a Standard.

Now I understand what Culpeper is trying to say.

And Vlk how to I reset the help popup back and yes I did disabled silly me.
