Edited... Repeats previous info.

I've never regretted installing Avast, nor purging Norton.

McAfee Site Advisor gives the site less than a green rating.
It's a pity... a false positive for sure. Here, Dr. Web link checker works like a charm  :)

Hi, I have a small problem trying to remove Norton, as I have an older cpu, and I am the second owner, when I go to uninstall Norton, it asks for a password before it will remove it.  Of course I have no idea what the password is, and was wondering if there was a bypass.  (it is a corparate version)  Thanks for you help!

You could check these out, I don't know if you will have any more success, perhaps it won't ask for a password.

What version of Norton do you have ?

Manual Removal NAV 2003 or earlier - Manual Removal NAV 2003 or earlier
A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT
You can also download SymNRT, a Norton uninstall tool that uninstalls all Norton 2004/2005/2006 products.

I just checked and there seems to be a problem with the manual removal for nav 2003 or earlier page.

However, I have just reread your post and since you mention (it is a corporate version) I doubt these solutions may work. You could try a google search for manual removal norton corporate version and see what that brings.

http://www.google.com/search?q=manual+removal+norton+corporate+version+9
Try this link - http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2002031914291648, this has a number of other links for Version 9 depending on what your OS is.

Good luck.

You may want to download avast and save the file so you can find it later, rather than go on-line with no protection later.

SymNRT doesn't work with the Corporate version.  You need NoNav instead, but the only way I know to get the current version is from a password protected Symantec site (google has some matches on older versions that might work with SAV 9.x).

If we get PMs back in the near future I could send you a copy.

@ Kubec - I know you don't like schedules but it would be nice to able able to give some help with this.

Just an update, finally got rid of Norton corparate edition, got a hold of the tech guy who built the cpu.  It was the easiest password ever, "symantec"

Yawn, isn't is always the way the most obvious default, surprised no one changed it.

I trust you have been able to install avast now ?

We have been through that Tech, suggested earlier, as it was the Symantec corporate version for which SymNRT doesn't work.

zippo1guy has however, been able to remove it.
