Adding more ports to Webshield
« on: January 09, 2007, 01:30:37 PM »
Dear forum, hello!  :)

I'm just wondering if there's a specific need to add more ports to scan to the Webshield module, along the port 80 (http). I saw in another antivirus when I tried them that they too scan another ports like 8000, 8088 and so on.

Thank you very much in advance!  ;D

You can add other ports, the essential question is do they use the http protocol for what they are doing, if not then the web shield is expecting http traffic and if it doesn't get that then it could cause timeout errors, etc.

So you have to establish what that port is for and if it is using http protocol. commonly these 80xx ports may be used as http proxies by other programs, so adding them should be ok (but you have to confirm).
