Help with Getting avast!

Im kinda upset because no one will trust me when getting avast. I share a computer with 3 other people, they all think avast is spyware or a trojan or something....
I think its because it starts with a scan during startup, and its just...ugh...

I want to know 2 things:

1 How to download avast and have it NOT scan during startup the first time

2 How to convince the other users of my computer that its 100% safe

hi and welcome
you can avoid the boot scan quite easily , I think it gives the option to hit any key for aroung 5 seconds prior to launching the program .

I would have them take a look at the forum, too.  I think the dedication they'll see to removing the malware will convince them.

Just answer 'no' to the question while you're installing avast.
I suppose your computer is not being scanned 'every' time it boots...
